I am now accumulating a really nice collection of Micro four thirds zoom lenses and I have to say I’m blown away by the optical quality of most of them. The Panasonic 100-300 is quite an extreme lens in many ways, since it offers a field of view equivalent to 200-600mm in general 35mm terms. And for less than £450 this lens is undeniably attractive to Micro 4/3 users who enjoy nature and wildlife photography, or perhaps sports. If we consider the traditional alternative, which would be an absolutely enormous and ridiculously expensive DSLR tele lens, then it’s unsurprising that the Panasonic 100-300 is proving popular. However, this lens does attract quite mixed reviews, generally attributable to copy variance and user error. I now have my second copy of this lens and I’m delighted with it (I found the first one to be a bit soft and lacking in contrast) so if you’d like to learn more about this particular piece of equipment then do head over to our dedicated animal photography area: Panasonic 100-300 Field Tests
