I’m overwhelmed to report that I have been nominated for the title of The Societies Photographer of the Year in recognition of my fine art animal portraiture. As the current animal photographer of the year I’m not too sure what the odds are of winning the title two years in a row (pretty small I should imagine) but the nomination matters almost as much as the title, given who I will be up against. The final winners are announced at a glittering gala dinner in London each January, it’s quite an event with all the movers and shakers of the photography world (and the odd celebrity) in attendance. You can see me receiving my award last year here: Animal Photographer of the Year
A big challenge for someone like me is in donning a frock and high heels (I spend much of my life in boots, jeans, and a parka). I’ve only worn a dress once before in the last decade, and that was of course when I received my award in January of this year. So I’d better drag my shoes out and practice trying to walk in them!
