The Societies Print Competition | Fine Art Portrait Photography Sussex
Although my primary discipline is portraiture, I’ve always been a great believer in exploring as many genres of photography as possible. For me at least, this helps to stave off boredom and does much to stimulate the creative juices. This is why the personal section of my website contains such a variety of imagery – I always have a camera with me wherever I go.
My entries into the latest round of The Societies print competition are portraits. I don’t just photograph human beings in the course of my day-to-day work as a professional photographer, I also photograph plenty of animals, in all shapes and sizes. A good flower specimen also deserves to have its photo taken as well in my opinion.
I’m delighted to say that the four photographs I submitted to the competition were all awarded. I gained Gold medals in Environmental Portraiture (I’m looking forward to delivering a very special print to the gentleman in the photograph below) and Fine Art and Pictorial. I also gained Highly Commended designations in Pet Portraiture and Nature (Highly Commended has replaced the previous Silver award). There are huge numbers of entries into this competition during every round, often a couple of thousand, and it’s a real privilege to sit amongst the winners. The standard as dazzling as always and you can see the Golds here: The Societies Competition 2015.
